One of the counts alleges that in 2022 in Lagos, Okoye and Northside Music Ltd directly acquired a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, valued at ₦850 million.

The charge claims that the funds used for the purchase were proceeds of an unlawful act, violating Section 18 (2)(d) and punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
A separate count contends that Okoye and his company indirectly converted $1,019,762.87 using a bureau de change.
The money, which was deposited in Access Bank Plc by Northside Music Ltd, was allegedly converted into naira and dispersed into various bank accounts to conceal its illicit origins, thereby breaching Section 18 (2)(a) and subject to punishment under Section 18 (3) of the Act.
Okoye pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. Following his plea, prosecution counsel Larry Peters Aso requested that a hearing date be set and that Okoye be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial.

However, Okoye’s counsel, Inibehe Effiong, noted that a bail application was pending and asked for his client to be held in EFCC custody until the application was heard. Aso objected, arguing that the EFCC’s custody was already congested with suspects awaiting arraignment, and insisted that Okoye be remanded to a correctional facility given his plea.
