The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the declaration was published on Saturday through a notice uploaded to the EFCC’s official website.

According to the commission, Farouq, aged 52 and originally from Zamfara State, is believed to have last been traced to a residence in Maitama, Abuja.
The EFCC stated that the former minister is being sought in connection with ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct during her time in office.

The notice, issued by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, called on members of the public with useful information about her whereabouts to report to the commission.
It listed several EFCC offices across Nigeria, including those in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Enugu, Maiduguri, and other locations, as contact points for information. The agency also provided phone and email channels for tips.
Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development between 2019 and 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The EFCC has not yet released further details on the specific transactions under investigation but says the case involves alleged diversion of public funds and abuse of public office during her tenure.
