Nigerian heavyweight boxer Efe Ajagba has ramped up preparations for his high-stakes showdown against Martin Bakole, scheduled for May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ajagba, 30, was spotted on Saturday training alongside British heavyweight Johnny Fisher — widely known as ‘The Romford Bull’ — as he sharpens his strategy for the pivotal clash. Fisher, 26, hails from Romford, England, and brings a unique mix of power and endurance to the sparring sessions, thanks in part to his background in rugby before turning professional in boxing.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the heavyweight bout, originally set for New York, is now part of the undercard for the highly anticipated ‘FATAL FURY’ fight night, headlined by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s super middleweight title defence against William Scull in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season event series.

Ajagba, with a professional record of 20-1 and 14 knockouts, has expressed his readiness for the bout, taking to Instagram earlier in the week to post:
“It’s official, I’m ready to rumble. UghelliBoy, it’s my time to shine. The Silent Roller can’t wait.”
He also extended his gratitude to event organiser Turki Al al-Sheikh, writing, “Thank you for the opportunity, @turkialalshik.”

His opponent, Bakole (21-2, 16 KOs), enters the ring looking to bounce back from a brutal second-round knockout loss to Joseph Parker in February. Bakole had stepped in as a late replacement for Daniel Dubois and remains ranked among the top five heavyweights by several boxing authorities.

Despite his recent setback, Bakole is determined to make a statement, while former two-time world champion Anthony Joshua believes the Congolese fighter has what it takes to rebound:
“Bakole believes in himself and he’s got every right to. He’s a serious fighter. That’s not the end, this is the heavyweight division.”

However, Joshua has also backed fellow African Ajagba to emerge victorious in Riyadh. The Nigerian, nicknamed ‘The Silent Roller,’ previously taunted Bakole on Instagram, promising to “woop your as the Naija way.”*
