EKO HOT BLOG reports that the directive was carried out through the Kano Emirate Council under the leadership of the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Matawalle, following complaints from residents over activities allegedly linked to the facility.
According to the Emirate Council, several petitions were submitted by members of the community expressing concerns about the operation of the hotel and its impact on the area.
The council said it reviewed the complaints and carried out necessary consultations before arriving at its decision.
Officials explained that the closure was aimed at addressing concerns raised by residents and preserving peace and order within the community.
The Emirate Council noted that the action formed part of efforts to respond to issues affecting the wellbeing of residents after careful consideration of the petitions received.
In addition to ordering the closure of the facility, the council directed the owner of the hotel to convert the property into either a school or a hospital.
According to the council, such a conversion would provide greater benefits to the community by improving access to education or healthcare services.
The council added that repurposing the building would serve the long-term interests of residents and contribute positively to the development of the area.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Kureken Sani Community Development Association, Malam Muhammad Sabi’u Yahaya, welcomed the decision.
He said residents had earlier submitted petitions to the Emirate Council after expressing concerns over suspected movements involving minors around the hotel.
Yahaya described the closure as a positive step toward addressing issues raised by members of the community and safeguarding the welfare of residents.
The Emirate Council reiterated its commitment to working with community leaders and stakeholders to promote peace, security and social development across communities within the Kano Emirate.
