- Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA restricts Okada operations to 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Security agencies warn violators risk arrest and motorcycle confiscation.
- Policy aligns with similar security measures already adopted in Epe LG and Eredo LCDA.
The Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Hon. Wale Raji-Anomo, has announced a restriction on the operations of commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, across communities within the council area, limiting their activities to between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. daily.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the directive was unveiled on Thursday, June 18, 2026, during a Stakeholders’ Security Meeting held at the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA Secretariat as part of efforts to strengthen security and curb criminal activities within the council.
Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Raji-Anomo explained that the decision was taken after careful consideration of prevailing security concerns and reports linking the use of motorcycles to certain criminal activities within the area.
According to the council chairman, restricting the movement of commercial motorcyclists during late-night hours is expected to enhance security surveillance, improve public safety, and support ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat crime.
The directive received strong backing from security stakeholders present at the meeting, including representatives of the Nigerian Army. A representative of the Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Epe Division, Lt. Col. Enye, warned that strict enforcement of the order would commence immediately.
The military representative emphasized that any commercial motorcyclist found operating beyond the approved time of 10:00 p.m. would be arrested, while the motorcycle involved would be confiscated by the authorities.
He further warned that recovering confiscated motorcycles would not be an easy process for offenders, urging all operators to comply fully with the new regulation in their own interest.
The development means that commercial motorcycle operations are now officially restricted to between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. across the three councils in Epe Division. Epe Local Government and Eredo LCDA had earlier announced similar restrictions in recent weeks as part of coordinated efforts to tackle insecurity and maintain law and order.
Residents and stakeholders at the meeting welcomed the measure, expressing optimism that the policy would contribute significantly to improving security and safeguarding lives and property throughout the division.
