Eko Hot Blog reports that the prayer session, which attracted family members, colleagues from the education sector, community leaders, political associates, friends, and well-wishers, was marked by solemn reflections, emotional tributes, and supplications for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
Since his passing, continuous prayers have been held by the family and associates, describing his death as sudden, shocking, and a great loss to public service.
Addressing attendees, the Vice Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA described the incident as unexpected and painful, noting that the late education administrator was a dedicated and committed officer of the council.
He conveyed the Chairman’s heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and reassured them of the council’s support during the difficult period.
“This is a very surprising incident. On behalf of the Chairman and the entire management of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, we sympathise with the family over this great loss,” he said.
He further assured the family that the council would not abandon them, stressing that the management team would extend support to the wife and children of the deceased.
“The LCDA management will stand by the family in this trying time and will do all it can to support the wife and children he left behind,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of friends and associates, Comrade Shina Akintolure, a long-time friend of the deceased, described Mr. Kadri as a man of integrity, wisdom, and humility.
He revealed that their friendship spanned over three decades, adding that the late HOD was someone he trusted deeply.
“He was a very good person and a dependable friend. We have been together for over 32 years, and I hardly took any decision without consulting him,” Akintolure stated.
An emotional moment ensued when the deceased’s immediate sister, Comrade Kenny Kadri, narrated her last encounter and memories of her brother.
She described him as a caring and selfless sibling who consistently supported her wellbeing, profession, business, and political career.
She recalled that they attended the burial of an elder sister on Sunday but did not see him throughout the event.
According to her, she searched for him in several places where she thought he might be, but to no avail. She later decided to visit their mother at home.
She explained that upon arriving at the house, she would normally call out her brother’s name and he would come downstairs immediately, but on that day, her mind was strangely off him.
She left shortly after, only to receive a distress call the following morning informing her that he had passed away.
“I rushed down and took him to the hospital, but he was confirmed dead,” she said amid tears.
She lamented that he might have survived if she had checked on him when she arrived home, describing the loss as one that has left the family devastated.
The prayer session concluded with words of encouragement, exhortations on faith and the brevity of life, and prayers for strength, comfort, and fortitude for the bereaved family, as well as the peaceful repose of the soul of the late education administrator.
