“I accept this honour with humility, fully aware that membership of the Epe Club is not merely ceremonial, but a recognition of service, character, and commitment to the progress of Epe Division and our nation at large,” he said.
The minister, who identified himself as a proud son of Epe, said the occasion carried special meaning for him.
“Epe has shaped my values, my outlook on leadership, and my deep belief in community service. To be welcomed into this respected circle of leaders, professionals, and patriots is both gratifying and inspiring,” Alausa stated.

At the heart of the ceremony was the celebration of Alhaji Bamu, a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), whom the minister described as more than a successful individual but “a symbol of purposeful living.” Alausa praised Bamu’s contributions to commerce, community development, leadership, and mentorship, noting that his impact, though often quiet, has been profound.
“He represents a generation that understood that true success is measured not only by personal achievement, but by what one gives back to society,” the minister said. “By honouring him today, the Epe Club is not merely celebrating a man; it is celebrating values—values that our younger generation must see, learn from, and emulate.”
Speaking on the significance of honouring community icons, Alausa emphasised that such celebrations reinforce positive social norms and inspire future leaders.
“Icons like Chief Bamu are living textbooks; they teach lessons of perseverance, integrity, discipline, and service that no curriculum alone can fully capture,” he said.

The minister drew a connection between the celebration and the Federal Government’s broader development strategy. “This aligns strongly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places human capital development, value-driven leadership, and inclusive national progress at the centre of our development strategy,” Alausa noted.
He urged young people present at the gathering to study the lives of icons and learn from their journeys. “Success is not instant; it is built over time through discipline, learning, resilience, and service,” the minister advised.
Alausa also commended the Epe Club for its consistency since its founding in 1974. “This club has remained a rallying point for unity, progress, and social responsibility within Epe Division. Your commitment to honouring deserving sons and daughters of Epe is commendable and worthy of emulation,” he said.
Speaking about Epe itself, the minister described it as more than just a place on the map. “It is a people, a culture, a tradition of honour, resilience, enterprise, and communal responsibility. It is from this soil that values of hard work, respect for elders, commitment to community, and excellence are instilled from a young age,” he said.
As Minister of Education, Alausa stressed that education extends beyond classrooms and certificates.
“Education is also about values, role models, mentorship, and community examples that shape character,” he stated, adding that as government continues to invest in education, skills development, and youth empowerment, communities such as Epe must continue to provide moral guidance and positive examples.

Concluding remarks, the minister congratulated Seriki Bamu on the well-deserved celebration and prayed for his continued good health and peace.
