Arsenal nearly doubled their advantage moments later when United’s Manuel Ugarte had to clear Joshua Zirkzee’s deflection off another Rice corner.
Saliba sealed the win when a Bukayo Saka corner led to Thomas Partey’s header ricocheting off the French defender’s back and into the net, leaving United keeper André Onana stranded.
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has become a set-piece powerhouse, with Timber and Saliba’s strikes contributing to the team’s league-leading tally of 22 goals from corners since the start of last season.
United managed some chances, with Diogo Dalot firing narrowly wide in the first half and David Raya making a crucial save to deny Matthijs de Ligt in the second.
