The self-proclaimed Director General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, has explained how the organisation was included in the Federal Government’s budget despite his arrest before the appropriation process was concluded.

He denied any involvement by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, in the alleged N1.3 billion budgetary allocation, insisting that he personally approached officials of the Budget Office to seek the agency’s inclusion.

According to Adeniyi, he first visited the Budget Office in December 2024 to request that the agency be captured in the 2025 Appropriation Bill but was informed that the budget process had already closed.

“I went to the Budget Office for the 2025 budget. I submitted my letter and everything I wanted, but they told me it was already too late,” he said.

He added that officials later informed him the proposal could instead be considered for the 2026 budget.

Adeniyi alleged that a female official facilitated a meeting with the Director General of the Budget Office, who subsequently referred him to another director handling the process.

According to him, the director explained that the proposal could no longer be accommodated in the 2025 budget but assured him efforts would continue ahead of the 2026 appropriation.

Asked whether he paid any Budget Office official, Adeniyi denied offering cash, saying he only promised future employment opportunities if the agency became operational.

“I did not pay anybody. The only promise I made was that if I started employing people, I could help them with jobs,” he said.

He maintained that all efforts to secure the agency’s inclusion ended after his arrest.

“Immediately the problem started, everything stopped. I didn’t even know the agency was in the budget until people told me later,” he said.

When asked how the agency eventually appeared in the budget despite his arrest, Adeniyi said he could not explain what happened.

On allegations that he paid N400 million to secure his appointment, Adeniyi claimed the money was delivered in United States dollars through his late associate, Dolapo Tanimola.

However, he said he could not confirm whether the money eventually reached Gbajabiamila.

Adeniyi also insisted he never met the Chief of Staff before or after his appointment, maintaining that Tanimola handled all interactions on his behalf.

“I never met Gbajabiamila physically before or after I was appointed. Dolapo Tanimola handled everything for me,” he said.

He further affirmed that he personally pursued the agency’s inclusion in the budget without any direct involvement of the President’s Chief of Staff.
