Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has congratulated the newly appointed factional Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mohammed Abdulrahman, urging him to act swiftly to reconcile aggrieved members and restore unity to the opposition party amid escalating internal disputes.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Abdulrahman emerged as Acting National Chairman following the suspension of Umar Damagum, Debo Ologunagba, Setonji Koshoedo, and three other officials over alleged misconduct and anti-party activities.

In response, the Damagum-led faction also suspended Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), and two other members, further deepening the crisis.

In a statement on Saturday, Fayose appealed to Abdulrahman to lead with fairness, teamwork, and transparency, stressing the need to immediately organise a valid National Convention after concluding all pending state and zonal congresses.
“I congratulate Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman on his emergence as Acting National Chairman of the PDP. I urge him to unite the party and restore confidence among members,” Fayose said.
“He must revisit the injustices done in states like Ekiti and others, correcting them in line with the party’s constitution and relevant court rulings.”
The former governor further advised Abdulrahman to prioritise inclusivity and ensure the formation of a credible National Working Committee that reflects the will of members across all regions.

Meanwhile, the PDP’s planned National Elective Convention, originally set for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, has been suspended following an interim injunction by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The ruling, delivered by Justice James Omotosho, restrained the party from holding the convention until it complies with its constitution, the 1999 Constitution, and the Electoral Act 2022.
The suit was filed by three aggrieved party members who argued that the PDP failed to conduct valid congresses in 14 states before announcing the convention, rendering the process unconstitutional.
