- Says Federal Scholarship Board Not Dissolved, Ministry Clarifies
The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed as false a viral press release circulating on social media which claimed that the National Award Scholarship had been suspended indefinitely and that the Federal Scholarship Board had been dissolved.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the forged document, dated 29 May 2026 and bearing the Ministry’s letterhead, alleged that financial constraints, misappropriation of funds and outstanding obligations were responsible for the purported suspension of the scholarship scheme. It also claimed that the Federal Scholarship Board had been dissolved as part of a restructuring exercise.
However, the Ministry has clarified that the document did not originate from any official source and should be disregarded by the public.
In an official statement issued on the same day, the Ministry stated that no directive has been issued suspending the National Award Scholarship or any other federal government scholarship programme.
The Ministry further explained that the Federal Scholarship Board has only undergone a change in name and is now known as the Department of Scholarship Awards (DSA). It stressed that the department’s responsibilities, functions and operations remain unchanged.
According to the statement, all federal government scholarship programmes, including the National Award Scholarship, continue to operate normally without interruption.

The Ministry expressed concern that the circulation of the fake notice has caused confusion and anxiety among students, parents and scholarship beneficiaries, urging the public not to be misled by unverified information.
It reaffirmed its commitment to the transparent and effective administration of educational support programmes across the country.
The Ministry also advised members of the public to verify information through official channels, including the Federal Ministry of Education’s website and its verified social media platforms.
