President Bola Tinubu has expressed satisfaction with the financial position of states across the country, stating that no state is currently struggling to pay workers’ salaries as was the case before his administration came into office.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the President made the remarks on Friday while receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, during a Sallah homage at his Lagos residence.

Speaking during the meeting, Tinubu highlighted ongoing development plans and infrastructure opportunities across the country, citing the proposed Sokoto-Badagry corridor as a project with significant potential for irrigation, agriculture and power generation.
He commended state governors for their role in sustaining public confidence in government policies and for supporting efforts aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.
“You have built that trust around one person: my leadership. I thank you very much. I am truly grateful. I cannot express enough how thankful I am to Almighty God that we are here together to share our thoughts and developmental programmes,” the President said.
Tinubu also noted that many states previously relied heavily on federal interventions and borrowing arrangements to meet salary obligations, but maintained that the situation has improved significantly.
“I am glad that out of the 27 governors borrowing from the federal government and asking for interventions, we are no longer struggling to pay salaries. No more,” he stated.

The President’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions on economic reforms, revenue allocation and efforts by both federal and state governments to strengthen public finances and improve service delivery.
