EKO HOT BLOG reports that Armed security personnel, including soldiers, police officers, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), were deployed to key locations surrounding the Presidential Villa.
Security operatives mounted checkpoints and erected barricades on major access roads leading to the seat of power, significantly restricting both vehicular and pedestrian movement in the area.
The restrictions affected workers and visitors, with many unable to gain access to offices located around the Central Business District.
The heightened security measures also triggered severe traffic congestion along major routes around the Federal Secretariat, National Assembly, and Supreme Court corridors, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
Several commuters were reportedly stranded as a result of the gridlock caused by the security arrangements.
According to reports, the planned protest was organised by human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in collaboration with the Take It Back Movement.
Organisers said the demonstration was scheduled to begin at Eagle Square before proceeding to the Presidential Villa.
The protest was aimed at demanding the immediate release of schoolchildren, teachers, and other victims who remain in captivity following various abductions across the country.
The organisers also called on President Bola Tinubu to secure the release of the abductees or resign over what they described as the government’s inability to adequately protect lives and property.
The planned demonstration comes amid growing public concern over persistent kidnappings, attacks on schools, and broader security challenges facing the country.

Many Nigerians have continued to call for stronger security measures, safer learning environments, and greater accountability from government officials in addressing the crisis.
As of the time of filing this report, there were no visible signs of protest activity around the Presidential Villa or other designated locations.
