EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking at the institution’s second matriculation ceremony in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday, the Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, said the administration is determined to train experts of the highest quality who can compete globally.
“It is our aspiration to produce graduates who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
This university will disseminate specialised knowledge across all modes of transportation and build experts who will strengthen Nigeria’s transport industry and economy,” Alkali said.
He conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s message of goodwill to the Governing Council, staff, and students, describing the university as the first of its kind in Africa. He urged the new students to seize the opportunity and work hard to become the pride of their families and the nation.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam Katsayal, explained that the institution was established to safeguard government investments in the transport sector and fill the gap in human capacity, particularly in the railway system.
He noted that CCECC Nigeria Limited, through its corporate social responsibility, had supported the university with classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and hostels.
Katsayal highlighted the university’s growth plans, which include expanding infrastructure, introducing smart classrooms, strengthening virtual learning, and prioritising sustainability with solar-powered facilities and green initiatives.

He added that new programmes in aviation technology, transportation security, smart mobility systems, and sustainable urban transport would soon be launched, alongside executive and short courses for professionals.
He further disclosed that research in areas such as autonomous vehicles, green logistics, and transport innovation would be intensified through industry partnerships and government backing.
