Fuji Legend Obesere Celebrates 60th Birthday with Mosque Opening at Alma Mater

The Paramount King of Fuji, Alhaji Abass Akande Obesere, has completed the construction of a mosque at his alma mater, Iponri Grammar School, Iponri, Lagos, in celebration of his 60th birthday.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the mosque, located within the school premises, will be officially opened on Monday, January 27, 2025, a day before his milestone birthday.
The project was carried out in collaboration with the Sidophobia Fans Club, Obesere’s official fan group.
Project lead, Akanni Basiru Olaniyi (Ola Mother), emphasized the mosque’s strategic location as a way for Obesere to give back to his school. Obesere, an alumnus of Iponri Grammar School, expressed his desire to contribute to the school that helped launch his musical career.

Obesere shared, “As part of my 60th birthday celebration, I wanted to give back to the school where my illustrious career began. After consulting with the school’s management, they requested a mosque, and I agreed wholeheartedly.”
Waheed Buruj Salaudeen, a leader of the Sidophobia Fans Club, thanked the fans for their unwavering support throughout the mosque’s construction. “We thank God for the successful completion of the mosque and appreciate all the fans for their support,” he said.
The President of Sidophobia Fans Club, Olugbenga Benedict Awoyemi, announced that fans would gather in large numbers for the mosque’s official opening. “We are excited to celebrate the completion of this house of worship and begin the 60th birthday festivities in the presence of God,” Awoyemi stated.
The mosque’s opening ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 AM at Iponri Grammar School, where Obesere will lead the celebration. The event will include a cultural performance by the school’s students to welcome the music icon, who graduated in 1983.

Obesere has also planned a special gift for the students of Iponri Grammar School as part of the celebration.
Born in Ibadan on January 28, 1965, Obesere is set to celebrate his 60th birthday on January 28, 2025, with a grand event at the Anchor Event Center in Agidingbi, Lagos. The celebration will include the launch of a new album, a book, and the Sidophobia Foundation, an NGO dedicated to supporting the elderly and needy.
As part of his anniversary celebrations, Obesere will reward his loyal band members with plots of land, unveil five new houses (two in Lagos and three in Ibadan), and surprise a special individual with a house for their contributions to his success.
