The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians against relying on so-called visa agents for information and guidance on German visa applications.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the embassy issued the warning on Wednesday through its official X account, urging visa applicants to verify information directly with the German mission rather than relying on individuals claiming to have special knowledge or access to the visa process.

“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy stated.
The mission also invited Nigerians to share claims they had heard from “visa agents” in the comments, saying it would respond to some of the claims in subsequent posts.
The embassy further made it clear that it has no partnership with visa agents.
“We do not work with any ‘visa Agents’!” the German mission stated.
According to the embassy, Nigerians do not need intermediaries to obtain official information about German visa requirements and application procedures, as the relevant details are available through the mission’s official channels.
The warning comes amid the widespread use of third parties by Nigerians seeking to travel to Germany for purposes including tourism, education, employment and family reunification.
The embassy’s clarification is particularly significant for applicants who may be approached by individuals claiming to have connections within the German mission or influence over visa decisions.
