The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has denied that her office allocated office space, approved staff deployment or authorised an organisational structure for the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Walson-Jack made the clarification on Wednesday while appearing before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the controversy surrounding the PFIPC.

The Head of Service also maintained that her office did not approve any organisational structure for the council headed by its purported Director General, Adeyemi Adeniyi.

Addressing lawmakers during the hearing, Walson-Jack said her office stood by its earlier submissions regarding the matter but sought to provide additional clarification on issues relating to the alleged establishment of the council.

“I was here earlier and all that we said we still stand by what we said, but I do believe that a few more details will clarify these issues.

“We are happy to state that all that we said regarding the issue of deployment, I just summarized that there was no deployment; the issues as regards office accommodation, we did not give office accommodation; the issues as regards organizational structure, we did not issue any organizational structure.

“The issue that I believe we need to clarify is the issue of unauthorized establishment and the issuance of a recruitment waiver. And so, if you kindly indulge me, I would like to take that portion that we have not earlier stated, and I will also give some more detailed explanation.”

Walson-Jack reiterated that the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation neither deployed personnel to the PFIPC nor approved office accommodation or an organisational framework for the council.

She told the committee that further clarification would focus on issues surrounding the alleged unauthorised establishment of the PFIPC and the issuance of a recruitment waiver.
