Five Still Missing After Helicopter Crash In Port Harcourt – NNPC Confirms

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has confirmed that five individuals remain missing following a helicopter crash that occurred on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Port Harcourt.

Despite extensive search and rescue operations conducted by relevant authorities, only three bodies have been recovered thus far.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, stated that no additional bodies have been found since the initial recovery.

The ill-fated helicopter, operated by East Winds Aviation, was carrying six NNPC officials and two crew members when it crashed en route to the FPSO – NUIMS Antan.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) is currently investigating the cause of the accident. The identities of the missing individuals have been confirmed as Tamunoemi Suku, Alu Lawrence, Etim Emmanuel, Kenneth Chikwem, Frank Oriamre, and Borris Ndorbo. The pilot was identified as Captain Yakubu Dukas, while the identity of the eighth person aboard remains unknown.

The NNPC has extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and continues to support the ongoing search and rescue efforts.
