He noted that the journey of 25 years was worth celebrating, having been part of its growth through different leadership eras and historic conventions, including the one held in Chicago.
Quoting U.S. Congressman Danny Davis at one of the conventions, Ikuforiji reflected on the enduring lessons the club has promoted over the years.
“Flattery is like perfume. You smell it, don’t swallow it,” he recalled, stressing the values of humility and service that define the association.
The former Speaker urged members to ensure the sustainability of the club by deliberately involving their children and younger generations in its activities.
“Eko Club should not die. For it to continue to live, let’s make sure that our children, our children, our children are part of this,” he emphasized.

Ikuforiji also lauded Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for including younger talents in his cabinet, citing the appointment of the Commissioner for Science and Technology as an example of the governor’s commitment to youth inclusion.
He praised past and present leaders of Lagos, including Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, describing them as part of the group that contributed to the state’s growth and development.
Ikuforiji concluded by appreciating the governor, ministers, and dignitaries in attendance, while blessing the members of Eko Club International for their service and commitment.
