At the 25th anniversary convention of Eko Club International in the United States, Adebimpe Daniels, a Lagos-born Artificial Intelligence engineer with Amazon, called on Nigerians in the diaspora to harness their skills and resources to drive development in Lagos and across Africa.
Speaking during an interactive session at the event, Eko Hot Blog reports that Daniels described Lagos not merely as a state but as a lifestyle, identity, and lifeline for its people.

“Eko is not just a geography. It is a lifestyle, a rhythm, a lifeline. Every day I wake up, I’m proud to return to my origin,” she said.
She emphasized the potential of the Nigerian diaspora, noting that Nigerians are recognized as the most educated ethnic group in the United States, a feat she described as “not by accident, but by design with Lagos at the heart of it.”
Daniels, who has lived in the U.S. for nearly 20 years, shared her passion for giving back to the continent and bridging connections between the diaspora and homeland. She recalled hosting Lagos State officials earlier in the year in Washington D.C. to explore the application of AI solutions for national development.
The tech professional urged Eko Club members and the wider diaspora community to recognize Lagos as the “crown jewel of Nigeria,” warning against cultural erosion and urging the preservation of heritage.

“Lagos is facing some dilution and erosion. Our culture and heritage are constantly under pressure. Lagos belongs to a people, and we are proud to be those people,” she stated firmly.
Acknowledging Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s transformative projects in transportation and infrastructure, Daniels said his work has been a source of pride for Lagosians abroad.
She further highlighted the convention’s economic session themed “Africa Rising: Diaspora Relations, Global Perception, and the Lagos Advantage,” stressing the need for meaningful conversations that forge new ventures and partnerships.
Daniels concluded by commending the efforts of Eko Club International in creating platforms for cultural preservation and engagement while calling for interactive dialogue that would strengthen ties between Lagosians at home and abroad.
