EKO HOT BLOG reports that reports linking the alleged scheme to internal power struggles in Owo Local Government Area, Adelami’s hometown, and tensions involving the state Commissioner for Finance, Isaacs Omowunmi, had sparked speculation about a rift within the state executive. Some political observers also suggested that members of the State House of Assembly were behind moves to remove the deputy governor.
However, speaking during the inauguration of the newly completed Ayegunle-Iwaro Oka road in Akoko South-West Local Government Area on Friday, Governor Aiyedatiwa debunked the rumours. He emphasised that the impeachment plot exists only in the imagination of political opponents seeking relevance.
Acknowledging the presence of his deputy at the event, Aiyedatiwa said, “Mr Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, I acknowledge your presence here. Thank you for holding forth for me yesterday when I had to travel. Worthy amiable Deputy Governor, some people are spreading one fake video. Those people want to hear words. They claimed they want to remove the deputy governor. For where? Where did they want to remove him from? Don’t answer them, please; they are only looking for relevance. That can’t happen because I’m also a Prophet of God.”

The governor reiterated that his administration remains united, dismissing any notion of discord between him and Adelami and assuring the public that the state executive is focused on governance and development rather than internal disputes.
