EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was contained in a resolution signed on Thursday by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Dr. Enemi George.
George said the resolution followed agreements reached at a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 8, 2026.
According to him, the governor and his deputy agreed to refrain from actions that may infringe on the Constitution and laws of Rivers State and to take immediate steps to correct any previous breaches.
“This resolution followed agreements reached at the meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Sunday, 8th February, 2026 and the filing of Notice of Discontinuance of suits OYHC/7/CS/2026 and OYHC/6/CS/2026 by the Governor and Deputy Governor on Tuesday, 17th of February, 2026,” George said.
He added that as a mark of good faith and respect for the President, the lawmakers withdrew two matters before the Court of Appeal, Appeal No. CA/PH/3/2026 and Appeal No. CA/PH/32/2026, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
“As agreed among other things, the Governor and Deputy Governor have pledged to desist from infringing on the Constitution and laws of Rivers State moving forward and would both take immediate steps to remedy all previous infringements,” he said.
George expressed confidence that the undertakings would be honoured, noting that strict adherence would strengthen the rule of law and promote stability in the state.
He also recalled that during plenary on Thursday, the House resolved to halt impeachment proceedings earlier initiated against Governor Fubara and Prof. Odu.

The lawmaker thanked residents of Rivers State for their support and prayers for the 10th Assembly and commended President Tinubu for his leadership role in resolving the dispute.
