Eko Hot Blog reports that the event turned into a carnival-like gathering as traditional chiefs, political leaders, market women, youths, community stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters from different wards across Epe Federal Constituency gathered to celebrate the lawmaker and reaffirm their loyalty to his leadership.
The atmosphere in the ancient town was electrifying, filled with cultural displays, music, chants, and jubilation as residents described the federal lawmaker as a dependable representative and a worthy ambassador of Ise Land who has continued to bring development to the constituency.
One of the major highlights of the event was the appearance of a special traditional masquerade, which community leaders revealed only comes out during highly significant occasions and for personalities regarded as special to the town.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of Ward B1, Mr. Abolore, explained that the purpose of the meeting was to formally unite stakeholders, chiefs, market women, youths, and political supporters in endorsing Rep. Wale Raji for another term in the House of Representatives.
He strongly dismissed rumours suggesting that the Ise community had withdrawn support from the lawmaker, insisting that the people remained solidly behind him because of his achievements and commitment to the constituency.
“No one should listen to the rumour that Ise rejected their son, Rep. Wale Raji, because that can never happen.
He is a good son of the soil and he has represented us very well. Why would we reject someone who has continued to bring meaningful development to our communities?” he stated.
According to him, the lawmaker has remained accessible to his people and has consistently attracted developmental projects to different communities across Epe Federal Constituency.
Also speaking during the gathering, the Vice Chairman of Ward B1, Mr. Bakare Muyideen Oluwaseun, said the crowd and reception given to the federal lawmaker clearly showed the level of love and acceptance he enjoys among his people.
He noted that the special masquerade displayed during the event was not an everyday cultural performance, explaining that it was reserved for highly respected personalities and major community celebrations.
“The kind of grand welcome given to Rep. Wale Raji today is a testament that he is not just a son of the community, but a son the entire town is proud of. That is why the special masquerade was brought out in his honour,” he said.
“The last time this masquerade came out was about 15 years ago, and that alone tells you the special place Wale Raji occupies in the hearts of his people,” he added.
Representatives from Wards B1, C1, and D1 also took turns to endorse the federal lawmaker, pledging total support for his re-election bid.
The party leaders and supporters assured him that residents across the wards were fully prepared to mobilise massively in support of his ambition during the forthcoming political exercise scheduled for May 15.
Speaking to his constituents, Wale Raji called for peaceful and issue-based politics, urging politicians and supporters to avoid bitterness, insults, and the spread of false information against opponents.
“In politics, because you are contesting against someone does not mean you should say bad things about them. To so many people who have done that to me, I have forgiven them already,” he said.
The lawmaker used the opportunity to highlight several developmental projects executed across Epe Federal Constituency under his representation.
According to him, his interventions span across road construction and rehabilitation projects within Ise and surrounding communities, health centre development, solar-powered electricity projects, educational support initiatives, market development, and other infrastructural projects aimed at improving the standard of living of residents.
He further assured constituents that his next term would witness even greater developmental strides, noting that several ongoing and proposed projects were already in the pipeline.
Rep. Raji explained that some projects currently underway needed to be completed, while new initiatives targeted at youth empowerment, community development, improved infrastructure, and economic growth would also be introduced for the benefit of the people.
The event ended with prayers for the lawmaker, blessings from community leaders, cultural performances, and renewed declarations of support from residents who described him as a leader who has remained committed to the welfare and progress of Epe Federal Constituency.
