The latest incursion targeted eastern Jabalia, Gaza’s largest refugee camp, where over 100,000 Palestinians reside, many of whom are descendants of those displaced during the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict.
Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari explained the operation, stating, “We are acting to prevent Hamas from rebuilding its military capabilities in Jabalia.”
Reports indicate that Israeli forces also engaged Palestinian militants in Gaza City’s Zeitoun district, resulting in further casualties.
Residents of Jabalia described the relentless bombardments, expressing fear and frustration as the conflict reignites.
Saed, a resident, lamented the impact on civilian life, noting the destruction of homes and the forced evacuation of families.
The escalation has also seen Israeli tanks re-entering eastern suburbs like Al-Zeitoun and Al-Sabra, where heavy bombardments have inflicted significant damage, including the destruction of residential buildings.
