Iyaloja-General Of Epe, Mulikat Onibon, Laid To Rest

The remains of Iyaloja-General of Epe division, Alhaja Mulikat Onibon, was on Thursday, 25th February 2021, interred according to Islam rites.

The 97-year-old widely revered leader had died the day before.

Friends, well-wishers market men and women, sympathizers and mourners thronged her residence to condole with the family members of Iya Sunnah of First Epe Central Mosque for a life well spent.

The atmosphere in her residence, where well-wishers took a turn to sign the condolence register, was such that indicates that Alhaja Onibon lived a fulfilled and purposeful life.

While at the First Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, Ekohotblog gathered that the Ulamas and well-wishers trooped to the venue where Solat Janaza, led by the Chief Imam of Epe Central Mosque, Oke-Balogun, Fadilat Sheikh Alhaji Abiola Sadala, was held. In his company were the Chief Imam, Ita-Opo Central Mosque, Fadilat Sheikh Alhaji Oladapo Abdulateef and other notable Islamic clerics in the community.

Other dignitaries present include Members of Staff and Students of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Members of Lagos State Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, Hon Wale Raji, Chief Mrs Iyabo Osifeso amongst others. Traditional Rulers such as Alara of Ilara, Olu-Epe of Epe, Oloja of Epe and Aladeshonyin and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom sent their Baales, Chiefs and Staff of Office to pay their last respect.

After the Salat Janaza prayers at the Central Mosque, her remains was taken by foot to her final abode at Alhaji Onibon’s House, Agbala.
While in transit to her final abode, residents, transporters, market men and women joined in the recitation of prayers in solidarity.

 

Alhaja Mulikat Onibon, in her lifetime, was known to be an active grassroots politician and mobilizer. Besides, her stewardship as Iya Oloja contributed immensely to the growth and development of trade across the Epe Division.

At age 97, Alhaja Mulikat Onibon is survived by prosperous children which include Alhaji Waliu Onibon, former Lagos State Government Permanent Secretary, Associate Professor Nosiru Onibon, the Provost, MOCPED, Hon Bariu Onibon and Mrs Kafayat Onibon.

From all of us at Ekohotblog, we pray Almighty Allah to grant her Aljanat fridaos. We also pray to Almighty God to give her family the fortitude to bear the loss.
