The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has extended the deadline for filing annual income tax returns, giving residents more time to meet their obligations without unnecessary pressure.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the agency announced that the new deadline is now April 21, 2026, following an earlier extension to April 14. This decision comes as many taxpayers continue to log into the eTax platform in large numbers, trying to complete their submissions before the cutoff date.

For many Lagos residents balancing work, business, and daily responsibilities, the extension offers some relief and a chance to file correctly without rushing.
LIRS noted that the increased activity on its platform reflects growing compliance among taxpayers, a positive sign for the state’s revenue system and public services.

Despite the extension, the agency reminded residents that filing their annual tax returns is a legal responsibility and urged everyone yet to comply to take advantage of this final window.
According to the Executive Chairman, Ayodele Subair, all submissions must be completed online through the official eTax platform, which remains the only approved channel.
Taxpayers who need assistance are encouraged to visit any LIRS office or reach out through official support channels, ensuring that no one is left behind in the process.
