JUST IN: Customs Vehicle Chasing Smugglers Crushes Seven To Death
- A Customs vehicle chasing smugglers has crushed seven people to death.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that tragedy struck in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State on Monday as a patrol vehicle of Nigeria Customs Service chasing rice smugglers crushed seven persons to death.
It was gathered that the tragic incident occurred around 10am on Monday after the Customs vehicle veered off the road and rammed into a group of people.
The Customs officers inside the patrol vehicle were said to have been chasing a Peugeot J5 bus suspected to be conveying contraband items.
EKO HOT BLOG learnt that no fewer than 20 persons sustained varying degrees of injury and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness, who declined to be named, said, “They were chasing a J5 vehicle suspected to have smuggled rice. Their vehicle lost control and ran into a group of people standing by the roadside.

“Six persons died instantly and another one died on the way to the hospital. About 20 other persons were seriously injured.
“In retaliation, an angry mob from the area burnt the custom vehicle before police could arrive at the scene,” he disclosed.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the incident was confirmed by the spokesman of the Katsina Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service, Danbaba Isah, noting that investigation has commenced into the incident.
