The Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State has been closed for a one-week mid-semester break following a student protest over the alleged killing of a student by the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).

Eko Hot Blog reports that the university’s management announced the closure on Monday after protests erupted on campus Sunday night and continued into Monday morning.

The students alleged that JTF operatives shot and killed one of their colleagues, accusing him of being an informant.

In response to the unrest, the university’s Senate, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Armaya’u Bichi, ordered all students to vacate the campus by 6:00 p.m. on February 24.

While the authorities have yet to confirm details of the alleged shooting, the incident has sparked outrage among students, leading to the indefinite suspension of academic activities.
