EKO HOT BLOG reports that his release was confirmed late Saturday night by the Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris, in a telephone interview. Idris disclosed that the lawmaker had been reunited with his family after days in captivity.
Bagudo was kidnapped on Thursday, October 31, 2025, around 8:20 p.m., shortly after observing Isha’i prayers in his hometown of Bagudo, the headquarters of Bagudo Local Government Area. The attackers, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the town, seized the 60-year-old legislator, and whisked him away to an unknown location, creating panic among residents.
The abduction prompted an immediate search and rescue operation by the Kebbi State Police Command, supported by the military and local vigilantes. Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, had earlier confirmed the incident, assuring the public of the Command’s determination to secure the lawmaker’s release and bring the culprits to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police reiterates the Command’s unwavering determination to ensure the safe rescue of the Honourable member and the arrest of the culprits,” Abubakar said in a statement.
During the manhunt, security operatives reportedly combed several forest routes believed to be used by bandits in the area. Residents of Bagudo and nearby communities were said to have lived in fear throughout the ordeal.

Though details of Bagudo’s release remain unclear, government sources confirmed that he was freed unhurt.
