Victims abducted during the Woro kidnapping incident in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have regained their freedom.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the development was confirmed on Wednesday in a statement by the Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on New Media, Olayinka Fafoluyi.
Fafoluyi, in a brief message shared via WhatsApp, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, security agencies and all those involved in securing the victims’ release, adding that further details would be provided later.
He wrote, “Breaking: Woro Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom.
“Alihamdulillaah and kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, security forces, and everyone who played a role in this huge feat. We are grateful!
“Details later…”
The announcement was also published on the official Facebook page of the Kwara State Government, reiterating the successful release of the victims and commending all those who contributed to the operation.
The Woro kidnapping occurred on February 3, 2026, when armed insurgents attacked the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attackers reportedly abducted 176 people, most of them women and children, during the deadly raid.
According to reports that emerged after the attack, the gunmen launched a coordinated assault on the communities, killing several residents and setting homes, shops and offices on fire.
Survivors said more than 50 heavily armed attackers invaded Woro at about 5 p.m., shooting indiscriminately and leaving widespread destruction in their wake.
The attack was one of the deadliest incidents recorded in the area, prompting widespread condemnation and renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
Authorities are yet to provide details of how the victims were freed or whether any arrests were made during the operation.
