The African Democratic Congress in Lagos State has criticised comments by the spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress, Seye Oladejo, describing them as dismissive and troubling.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Tuesday by Olusegun Adekayero, the party said the remarks reflected what it described as the ruling party’s attitude toward democratic inclusion and political plurality.

The ADC argued that it was misleading to trivialise concerns raised by opposition parties regarding transparency, fairness, and consistency in the electoral process.
“The ADC firmly rejects the insinuation that its concerns stem from non compliance or internal disarray. Our party remains committed to due process, internal democracy, and adherence to guidelines as stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” the statement read.
The party added that raising concerns about possible administrative bias should not be seen as weakness but as part of efforts to safeguard democracy.
Adekayero also accused the APC of double standards, noting that the ruling party had previously faced similar challenges in states such as Zamfara and Rivers due to legal and procedural issues.
According to him, those experiences should reinforce the need for fairness and equal application of the law rather than be used to dismiss concerns from other parties.
The ADC stressed that democracy thrives on inclusiveness, transparency, and stakeholder confidence, warning that any attempt to undermine legitimate political participation raises concerns about the country’s democratic health.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to lawful engagement in the electoral process and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to uphold neutrality, transparency, and fairness.
It also urged the APC to adopt a more constructive approach in strengthening democratic institutions in Nigeria.
