- The laboratory was discovered following months of surveillance and intelligence gathering
- NDLEA operatives also raided the hideout of 28-year-old drug dealer Afeez Salisu, popularly known as Malu, in Mushin, Lagos
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a secret laboratory used for producing “Colorado,” a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, inside a residential building in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the discovery in a statement on Sunday, describing it as a major breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on illicit drug production in Nigeria.

According to Babafemi, the laboratory was discovered following months of surveillance and intelligence gathering on the local manufacture of the psychoactive substance.
The 30-year-old owner of the lab, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, was arrested during a raid on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
“The discovery followed months of intelligence on possible Colorado production sites in Lagos after NDLEA operatives intercepted several consignments of the substance in March and May 2025. This suggested that what was once imported into the country was now being produced locally,” Babafemi stated.

Recovered from the apartment were 16.2 kilogrammes of freshly cooked Colorado, 1.7 kilogrammes of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5 kilogrammes of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane all key ingredients in the production of synthetic cannabis.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives also raided the hideout of 28-year-old drug dealer Afeez Salisu, popularly known as Malu, in Mushin, Lagos.
Recovered from him were 16 compressed blocks of “Ghana Loud” and several designer sachets and bottles of Colorado, weighing a total of 16.4 kilogrammes.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against the production and distribution of synthetic drugs in Nigeria, warning that those involved in such criminal acts would face the full weight of the law.
