The Lagos State Police Command has detained social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a motor accident linked to a video showing him driving recklessly while live on social media.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the police said the incident occurred on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and described the suspect’s actions as dangerous and capable of endangering the lives of other road users.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest and detention of the influencer, saying his conduct posed a serious threat to public safety.
“The suspect was seen driving at a dangerous speed during a live broadcast, leading to a motor accident that posed grave risks to himself and innocent members of the public,” Adebisi said.
According to the command, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police said the outcome of the investigation would be made public and that Peller would be charged to court after the probe is concluded.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a strong warning to social media users and members of the public.
He cautioned influencers and content creators against using social media platforms to engage in, encourage or promote reckless, dangerous or unlawful acts.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, strongly warns social media influencers, content creators and members of the public to desist from using social media platforms to engage in or promote reckless, dangerous or unlawful and criminal acts,” the statement said.
It added that such actions would not be tolerated and that offenders would face the full weight of the law.

The command also urged motorists to obey traffic regulations at all times, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and maintaining public order across the state.
