EKO HOT BLOG reports that in the trending video, he questions why parents must pay for chairs, food, canopies, T-shirts, and professional photographers.
“This is not university convocation,” he says. “It’s just secondary school. Why all the extra costs?”
The man’s outburst has struck a chord with parents, many of whom say schools are exploiting them.
Several parents shared similar experiences, saying they were asked to pay ₦40,000 to ₦120,000 for graduation activities.
“This is extortion,” one mother said. “We already paid tuition. Now they want a party bill?”
Many Nigerians are calling on schools to reduce graduation spending and stop forcing lavish events on struggling families.
Education experts also raised concerns, warning that such practices divert attention from quality learning.
The video has been widely shared across WhatsApp, X, Facebook, and Instagram, with thousands voicing support.
“Please, let schools focus on education, not showbiz,” one user commented.

The father ends the video in tears, pleading: “Help us. Don’t force us into debt to celebrate our children.”
