The Lagos State Government has sealed a public toilet facility at Mazamaza bus stop in the Amuwo Odofin area for illegally discharging raw sewage into a public drainage system.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the enforcement action was announced on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, via his official X account.

According to Wahab, officials of the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) shut down the facility after discovering that operators were deliberately pumping untreated sewage and wastewater into the drainage using a machine.
He described the act as a serious environmental violation that constitutes public nuisance, pollution, and a threat to residents’ health.
Wahab urged Lagos residents and business operators to adopt proper wastewater disposal and hygiene practices, warning that any act capable of endangering public health or damaging the environment would attract sanctions and possible prosecution.
The state government has intensified monitoring and enforcement activities as part of efforts to maintain environmental standards and protect public health.

In a similar development reported earlier, authorities also sealed another public toilet facility on Savage Street in Ebute Metta for allegedly discharging raw sewage into a public drain.
