Chairman of the LOC and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Sam Egube, urged members to work together in the interest of the Games while maintaining transparency and accountability.
“We are one big family. To host a Games of this magnitude requires wisdom and maturity. We should always submit to the will of the majority,” Egube said.
He added that beyond sports development, the Games should also promote human development and reinforce Lagos’ reputation as Nigeria’s leading host of major sporting events.
Co-chairman of the Games and Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, disclosed that between 13,000 and 15,000 athletes are expected to participate in the competition.
According to Fatodu, the event marks Lagos’ return to hosting a major national sporting competition 14 years after staging the National Sports Festival.
Former Super Eagles player Waidi Akanni, who serves on the Finance and Sponsorship Sub-committee, stressed the need for extensive publicity to ensure the success of the Games.
The 13 committees include Media and Publicity, Mobilisation, Venue and Facilities, Games Village and Accommodation, Medical, Transportation and Logistics, Ceremonial and Protocol, Catering and Feeding, Finance and Sponsorship, among others.

The Media and Publicity Sub-committee is chaired by Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Following the inauguration, members received appointment letters signed by the Secretary-General of the Local Organising Committee, Adedeji Aladegbemi.
The maiden Eko 2026 National Intermediate Games will hold from October 1 to October 15, 2026, across designated sporting venues in Lagos State.
