The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has honoured members of its teaching and non-teaching workforce with Long Service Awards in recognition of their years of dedication, loyalty and contributions to the development of basic education in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the award ceremony, held at the LASUBEB Multipurpose Hall, brought together members of the Board, management, teaching and non-teaching staff, award recipients and other stakeholders to celebrate employees who have distinguished themselves through years of committed service.
The event provided an opportunity to recognise the role of the workforce in strengthening the administration and delivery of basic education across Lagos State, while celebrating employees who have demonstrated professionalism, resilience and dedication throughout their careers.
Delivering the keynote address, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, congratulated the awardees and commended them for the sacrifices and commitment they had demonstrated over the years.
Shittu noted that their contributions had played an important role in strengthening the Board and supporting the provision of quality basic education across the state.
“Your years of service and dedication have contributed significantly to the growth and development of basic education in Lagos State,” he said.
The LASUBEB chairman also urged the awardees to pay greater attention to their wellbeing as they prepare for the next phase of their lives.
He advised them to embrace healthy lifestyles, prioritise their physical and mental wellbeing and adopt responsible financial management practices.
Shittu further encouraged the recipients to approach the next chapter of their lives with peace of mind, optimism and gratitude.
He urged them to let go of bitterness, forgive where necessary and enjoy the benefits of their years of service.
In his goodwill message, the Board Member in charge of Teachers’ Establishment, Honourable Babatunde Williams, praised the awardees for their resilience, professionalism and commitment to duty.
Williams stressed that teaching and non-teaching personnel remain essential to the effective functioning of the education system, noting that their contributions extend beyond the classroom to the smooth operation of schools and administrative structures.
He urged the awardees to remain worthy ambassadors of LASUBEB and continue to uphold the values of excellence, professionalism and service.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, who was also among those honoured, expressed appreciation to the Board for recognising the contributions of long-serving personnel.
Lamidi described the award as a significant honour and an indication that dedication, loyalty and commitment to duty are valued by the institution.
He also commended the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for recognising the contributions of teaching and non-teaching staff to the development of basic education in Lagos State.
The ceremony featured the presentation of Long Service Awards to deserving members of the teaching and non-teaching workforce who had attained various milestones in their years of service.
The recognition served as a celebration of the workforce behind Lagos State’s basic education system and an appreciation of the role played by long-serving personnel in sustaining the sector.
