Cornelius Ojelabi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has stressed that all party candidates running in the upcoming 2025 local government elections must live within their constituencies if elected on July 12, 2025.
Eko Hot Blog reports that during a meeting with APC stakeholders and Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu on Tuesday, Ojelabi emphasized that the rule would be strictly enforced. He warned that any elected council chairman found living outside their local government area would face disciplinary action.

Ojelabi highlighted that effective leadership requires a deep understanding of the community’s needs, which is only possible by being physically present and accessible.
He underscored the importance of council chairmen in driving development across key sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture.

He also urged candidates to align with the governor’s vision to ensure the benefits of democracy are delivered to the people.
Acknowledging the state’s achievements, Ojelabi encouraged further efforts to combat food insecurity, pointing out the availability of underused land in areas like Ikorodu and Badagry that could be developed for agricultural purposes.
He concluded with a strong warning that the performance of elected officials would be closely monitored, and that complacency would not be tolerated.
