Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured that his administration will prioritise the rehabilitation and reunification of the pupils and teachers rescued after spending 56 days in captivity.
The governor said the victims would receive the necessary medical, psychological and social support to help them recover from the physical and emotional trauma of their ordeal before fully reintegrating into their families and communities.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Makinde made the pledge in a post on his 𝕏 account on Friday following the successful rescue of the victims, who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Expressing gratitude over their safe return, the governor described the rescue as a welcome development after nearly two months in the custody of their abductors.
According to him, the state government’s immediate priority is to ensure that the rescued pupils and teachers are reunited with their families while receiving the care and support needed to aid their recovery.
“Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience,” Makinde said.
The governor did not disclose details of the rehabilitation programme but assured residents that the victims would receive all necessary assistance to overcome the effects of their prolonged captivity.
Makinde also commended the security agencies and personnel involved in the rescue operation, praising their professionalism, courage and dedication.
He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the operatives, noting that their efforts were instrumental in securing the safe release of the victims.
“We also commend the security agencies that took part in the rescue operations for their sacrifices,” he said.

The governor further paid tribute to security personnel who lost their lives during the operation, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls and extending his condolences to their families.
“May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace, and may God comfort their families,” Makinde added.
