The Osun State Security Network Agency has confirmed a violent attack on its Egbedore Local Government Command headquarters in Awo, leaving several personnel injured and firearms stolen.
The agency’s spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu Abass, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, noting that the incident occurred on Monday evening.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the statement, the crisis began around 8:00 p.m. when a civilian ran into the Amotekun office seeking refuge after being chased by suspected hoodlums. The victim was reportedly involved in a dispute linked to a football-related altercation the previous day, which later escalated into violence.
“Preliminary reports revealed the situation began at about 8:00 p.m. when a civilian reportedly fled to the Amotekun office seeking refuge after being chased by suspected hoodlums,” the statement read.

The attackers, armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons, reportedly pursued the victim and assaulted him before he escaped into the Amotekun facility. Officers on duty intervened and provided protection to prevent further harm.
“Amotekun officers on duty reportedly intervened and offered protection to the victim, preventing further immediate harm,” the agency added.
However, the assailants later regrouped and returned in larger numbers, launching a more coordinated attack on the command headquarters.

During the assault, the mob vandalised the facility, injured personnel, breached security, and attacked the victim again within the premises. Firearms belonging to the command were also reportedly stolen before security operatives restored order.

The agency confirmed that five suspects were arrested at the scene and handed over to the police for further investigation.
Amotekun urged residents to remain calm and assist security agencies with useful information, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property across Osun State.
