When confronted by the complainant at the Transformer area of Ejigbo, Dimudi allegedly contracted two boys to eliminate Igwe. The attempt reportedly failed as the target escaped.
The incident was reported to the Ejigbo Police Division, where Dimudi was arrested and interrogated. Police prosecutors later filed charges against him at the Magistrate Court, accusing him of obtaining money under false pretence and threatening the life of Igwe.
One of the charges read in court stated:
“That you, Sunday Dimudi ‘m’, on 10th June 2025, at about 10:30hrs, at Transformer Area, Ejigbo, Lagos State, did obtain the sum of ₦8,100,000 from one Mimie Igwe under false pretence of doing roofing job in her hotel and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 314 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”
Another count accused him of threatening to kill Igwe through two unidentified boys, contrary to Section 56 of the same law.
Dimudi pleaded not guilty to the charges. Prosecutor Inspector Simeon Njue urged the court to fix a hearing date to allow the police present evidence.
Presiding Magistrate T.A. Popoola granted the defendant bail with two sureties who must provide evidence of tax payments and verifiable means of livelihood.

Until the bail conditions are perfected, Dimudi will remain in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned for further mention.
