Man Beheads Father, Buries Head in Shocking Incident in Abia State

Tragedy struck in the Umuomei community of Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia State, as a man, Ogeoma Ogbonna, reportedly beheaded his father, Azubuike Ogbonna, and buried the severed head in a shallow grave.
The horrific incident unfolded on Thursday, leaving residents of the usually peaceful community in shock.

Sources revealed that Ogeoma, who had reportedly exhibited signs of mental instability, carried out the gruesome act before neighbors were alerted to the scene.
According to witnesses, Ogeoma had been known to issue threats and display erratic behavior, but no one anticipated the situation escalating to such a tragic extent.
“Ogeoma has shown signs of mental illness for some time. He often threatened people, but we never imagined it would lead to something this horrifying,” said a resident of the community, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
After committing the crime, Ogeoma reportedly buried his father’s head in a shallow grave within their compound. Neighbors who arrived at the scene found the elder Ogbonna’s body lying in a pool of blood.
The suspect later led people to the burial site of the severed head.
The news has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents gathering at the family’s compound to express their disbelief and horror.
As of the time of reporting, the Abia State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Efforts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, for comments were unsuccessful.
The tragic incident has raised concerns about untreated mental health issues and their potential consequences.
