The tragic discovery was made on September 13, 2025, sparking outrage in the once peaceful neighbourhood.
Ezekiel had reportedly left his home around 6 p.m. that day, telling his wife he was going to attend a birthday celebration.
However, his failure to return home by nightfall raised alarm.
Speaking with reporters, his 24-year-old wife, Abiola, recounted her growing concern;
“We had dinner together, and around 6 p.m., he told me he was going for a birthday party.
By 9 p.m., he still hadn’t come back. I kept calling his phone, but it was switched off. I became very worried. He normally doesn’t stay out late.”

The heartbreaking moment came when her brother, Razak, located Ezekiel’s body.
“When I entered the pond, the water didn’t reach my chest. I searched with my hands until I touched him. He was on his knees, with his hands tied. We pulled him out and took pictures before rushing him to Badagry General Hospital. Sadly, the doctor said he was already dead.”
Community sources alleged that there was a dispute during the birthday event, and it was claimed that the celebrant ordered Ezekiel to be tied.
However, the events that followed remain unclear.
The Lagos State Police Command has launched a full investigation into the incident to unravel the circumstances surrounding the young man’s death.
