President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Works to urgently intervene in the deteriorating condition of the Benin-Agbor-Asaba and Ifaki-Kabba-Ado Ekiti road corridors.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the directive followed growing concerns over the hardship faced by motorists and commuters using the affected routes, with some travellers reportedly spending several hours and, in some cases, days on the roads.

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Francis Nwaze.
Umahi said the ministry had begun immediate steps to restore movement and ease the difficulties faced by road users.
As part of the intervention, the Minister of State for Works was directed to lead a team of officials to the Ifaki-Kabba-Ado Ekiti axis to assess the condition of the road and commence urgent remedial work.
The ministry said officials were already on the ground by 10 a.m. on Tuesday to begin work along the Ekiti-Kogi corridor.
Meanwhile, Umahi travelled to Benin, Edo State, with members of the National Assembly Works Committees to begin a similar intervention on the Benin-Agbor-Asaba road.
The meeting is expected to involve the Edo and Delta state governments as well as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to determine immediate measures to ease the situation.
Umahi apologised to motorists and commuters who had been stranded or delayed for extended periods due to the poor condition of the roads.
He assured road users that the Federal Government’s intervention would not be limited to temporary measures, saying immediate repairs would be followed by permanent solutions to improve the long-term condition of the roads.
