Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, who praised the 465-page book as a significant contribution to Lagos’ urban policy narrative.
The memoir reflects Oba Lawal’s experience in public service, spotlighting sectors such as housing, agriculture, transportation, security and the environment.
Oba Lawal previously served as Aide-de-Camp and Escort Commander to then-Governor Bola Tinubu between 1999 and 2007.
He also held roles including Senior Special Assistant and Commissioner under Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.

Fashola, who attended the launch, said the memoir captures Lagos’ growth story, major development strides, and governance challenges.
“This book is not just a memoir; it is a reflection of the strategic development and sustained progress Lagos has witnessed,” he said.
The launch event was filled with cultural displays, as Yoruba traditions were showcased in honour of the monarch’s milestone.
Oba Lawal made a grand entrance, further highlighting the heritage and vibrancy of the Iru Kingdom.
Top government officials, commissioners, and traditional leaders were among those in attendance.
Oba Lawal expressed appreciation to those who supported his journey both in public office and as a royal father.
He dedicated the memoir to the resilience of Lagosians and the steady progress of the state.
The book offers a detailed insider view of Lagos’ evolution into a globally recognised urban hub.
Its release adds to ongoing discussions on sustainable urbanisation and development policy in Nigeria.
