Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged Nigerian managers and professionals to embrace ethical leadership, innovation and continuous learning to remain relevant in a rapidly changing economy, Eko Hot Blog reports.
Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy, Dr Kadri Hamzat, made the call at the 65th Anniversary Dinner and Awards Night of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) in Lagos.

The event, held at Harbour Point, Victoria Island, was themed “Leading Through Transformation: The Human Element in Modern Leadership.”
The governor said rapid urbanisation, technological changes, economic transformation and the changing nature of work were creating new demands for leaders in both the public and private sectors.
He urged professionals to combine strategic thinking and technical skills with integrity, adaptability and continuous learning.
According to him, strong institutions are necessary to build public trust, ensure stability and support long-term development.
Sanwo-Olu also encouraged Nigerian managers to embrace digital transformation and maintain high professional standards as the country seeks to compete in the global economy.
He described the Nigerian Institute of Management’s role in developing management professionals as important to Nigeria’s ability to respond effectively to changes in the business and economic environment.
The governor urged the institute to continue promoting excellence and professionalism as it builds on its 65-year history.
Earlier, the President and Chairman of NIM, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba, reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to management excellence and professional development.
Ayuba noted that NIM’s charter, granted by the National Assembly in 2003, expanded its responsibilities to include setting standards and developing systems for evaluating and improving management professionals in Nigeria.
The anniversary celebration also honoured past presidents and other professionals for their contributions to management practice in the country.
The highlight of the event was the investiture of Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat as a Fellow of NIM.
