The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, has visited two officers receiving treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, following a violent mob attack during an anti-drug operation in the Dawaki area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The injured officers, Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums on May 15, 2026, while carrying out a raid on a known drug hotspot.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that during his visit on Monday, Marwa assured that the agency would fully cater for their medical care and welfare until they recover completely.
He also vowed that those responsible for the attack would be tracked down and prosecuted.
Marwa described the incident as a cowardly assault on law enforcement personnel, stressing that an attack on NDLEA operatives amounts to an attack on the state.

He said, “The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested, and brought to justice. An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished.”
The NDLEA boss commended the officers for their courage and professionalism during the high-risk operation in Dawaki.
He said their sacrifice in the fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse remained critical to national security.
As part of support measures, Marwa presented official Letters of Commendation to the injured officers and approved additional welfare assistance to aid their recovery.
He also praised the medical team of the NDLEA and doctors at the National Hospital for their swift response in stabilising the victims.

Marwa reiterated that the agency remains committed to dismantling drug networks across the country despite repeated attacks from criminal elements.
