The report stated that the operations were launched following extensive Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted across the theatre of operations.
It explained that air assets, including Dragon and ISR platforms, carried out an air interdiction mission at Dawoshe, a known terrorist enclave in the Southern Tumbus area, at about 12:40 a.m. on June 10.
During the surveillance operation, suspected terrorist vehicles were detected moving within the area and were subsequently engaged by NAF aircraft.
According to the report, a Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) conducted after the strike confirmed the destruction of the vehicles and the neutralisation of 12 terrorists.
“Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the vehicles were destroyed, while 12 terrorists were neutralised during the operation,” the report stated.
The Air Component also conducted a precision strike on terrorist positions in Metele, located in the Northern Tumbus area of Guzamala Local Government Area, on the same day.
The report noted that post-strike assessments, supported by BDA findings and Human Intelligence (HUMINT), confirmed that 15 terrorists were killed during the operation.
“Post-strike assessments, supported by BDA and Human Intelligence (HUMINT), confirmed that 15 terrorists were neutralised during the operation,” the report added.
Military authorities said the operations dealt a significant setback to terrorist elements operating within the Lake Chad fringes and the Tumbus hideouts, areas often used as logistics and operational bases by insurgents.
The report stated that the strikes formed part of sustained efforts by the Armed Forces of Nigeria to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt supply networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the North East.

In total, 27 terrorists were neutralised during the two air operations.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist strongholds until peace and security are fully restored across the region.
