The Office of the Chief of Staff to NANS Lagos JCC has issued an urgent security notice to students of Lagos State University of Science and Technology following a reported security incident around the institution’s First Gate area and surrounding communities.
Eko Hot Blog reports that according to a statement signed by Edu Shaffi Oladehinde, a female student was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified individual who reportedly attacked her at gunpoint.

The statement revealed that the matter has already been formally reported to the Nigeria Police Force at the Shagamu Road Division, while relevant student bodies and stakeholders have also intervened to ensure proper investigation and justice.
NANS Lagos JCC commended the swift response of the police and assured students that developments surrounding the incident are being closely monitored.
Following the incident, students were strongly advised to remain vigilant and prioritize personal safety, especially within hostels and off-campus environments.
The student leadership urged students to always verify identities before opening doors, remain observant of unfamiliar individuals around hostels and compounds, avoid isolated areas at night, and promptly report suspicious activities to security operatives or student representatives.
Students were also encouraged to stay connected with trusted friends and keep communication lines open, particularly when returning late from classes or other engagements.
“The safety and welfare of every student remain a top priority. We urge all students to stay alert, cautious, and responsible while also looking out for one another,” the statement noted.
The leadership of NANS Lagos JCC, under Odewunmi Quadri, reaffirmed its commitment to student welfare and campus safety while calling for stronger security consciousness among students and residents around the institution.
The development has continued to generate concern among students, with many calling for increased security presence and improved safety measures around student-populated areas.
