The new chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Engr. Abdullahi Ramat has officially taken office in Abuja with a strong message for electricity companies.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Ramat sent a clear message to these companies, insisting that they “must do the right thing” to fix the power problems Nigerians are facing.

He announced that his tenure as chairman would not be “business as usual” and that he would ensure electricity distribution companies (DisCos) and generation companies (GenCos) adhered to all market rules.

While acknowledging that he and his team cannot change the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) overnight, he expressed confidence that with teamwork and efficiency, they can improve the country’s energy supply.
He also mentioned that he will carefully study the handover notes from his predecessor, Engr. Sanusi Garba, to ensure a smooth transition and begin his work effectively.
Ramat concluded by thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in this important role.
